María Rosa Aránega (Almería, 1995) explora las relaciones entre memoria, política, violencia, abusos de poder, violaciones de Derechos Humanos y justicia social, especialmente en torno a la dictadura franquista y su transmisión así como su transversalidad con otros conflictos y contextos. Se sirve a menudo de la recuperación y reactualización de imágenes de archivo de fuentes diversas de momentos pasados para desarrollar espacios donde asimilar el pasado de un modo más vivo, plantear una dicotomía entre tiempos y territorios y difuminar los límites entre el pasado y el presente, lo personal y lo social, lo individual y lo colectivo, lo familiar y lo histórico.
Trabaja principalmente a partir de la fotografía, testimonios orales y el dibujo, cuyas cualidades tanto gráficas como simbólicas y testimoniales le permiten la construcción de nuevas lecturas y diálogo entre archivos, imágenes, hemerotecas y demás elementos aparentemente inconexos. Su objetivo es la activación del relatos periféricos o subterráneos que desvelan conexiones con otros contextos y/o del pasado con el presente que nos atraviesa, así como generar nuevos sentidos críticos para analizar y reconocernos en el presente como consecuencia y continuum de la historia.

María Rosa Aránega (Almería, 1995)explores the relationships between memory, politics, violence, abuses of power, human rights violations, and social justice, especially in relation to the Francoist dictatorship, as well as their transmission and intersection with other conflicts and contexts. She often relies on the recovery and recontextualization of archival ima ges from diverse sources of past moments to create spaces where the past can be assimilated in a more vivid manner. Her work raises a dichotomy between times and territories and blurs the boundaries between the personal and the social, the individual and the collective, the familial and the historical.
She primarily works with photography, oral testimonies, and drawing, whose graphic, symbolic, and testimonial qualities enable her to construct new readings and dialogues between archives, images, newspaper archives, and other seemingly unrelated elements. Her objective is to activate peripheral or underground narratives that unveil connections to other contexts and/or reveal the links between the past and the present that permeate our lives. Additionally, she aims to generate new critical meanings to analyze and recognize ourselves in the present as a consequence and continuum of history.
